INSTRUCTIONS

Finely dice 1 large Onion.

Take a Dutch oven or sauce pan, place on a medium heat and add a splash of Olive Oil.

Pop in the Onion and season.

Then, take 3-6 cloves of Garlic, peel and finely dice.

Once the Onions are getting soft chuck in the Garlic.

Add a heaped Tbsp of Tomato puree.

Roast off the Tomato Puree for 2-3 minutes then pour in 2 Tins of canned Tomatoes.

Season, and cook out the Sauce for 20-30 minutes.

Next, take a large mixing bowl and pop in the Beef mince, around 250g.

Soak a slice of Bread in some Milk, squeeze out the excess Milk and place in the bowl with the Beef.

Season, then break up the Bread and mash it into the Beef, but don’t compress the Beef too much.

Then, take a small handful of the Beef and roll out into a ball, around the size of a golf ball.

Make as many Meatballs as you need and lightly dust in some flour.

Then, take a large flat bottomed frying pan, add a generous amount of Olive Oil and bring the heat up medium to high.

Drop in the Meatballs and fry until nicely browned on all sides.

Drop the Meatballs into the Sauce, stir through and turn off the heat.

Next, we want to take a Bread roll of your choice, I like to use a good quality baguette, slice it in half, but leave a hinge in the roll so the filling doesn’t spill out.

Lay in slices of Salami, tear in the Mozzarella and some fresh Basil leaves.

Spoon in some of the Meatballs and Sauce. Finish with a good grating of Parmesan, and serve.

Enjoy
